Instructor Bio:

Roger Estes
Roger Estes retired from the Arlington County Police Department in July, 2010 after 37 years of service.  Roger spent about half his career as a patrol officer and the other half as a detective.  In the 18 years as a uniform patrol officer, Roger did nearly every job a uniform officer can have, to include; foot patrol officer,  police agent, and follow-up investigations.  Roger also spent a short time as a plain clothes tactical officer.

Roger spent over 19 years as a detective, where he built his investigation and interviewing skills.   Roger is best known for his work in the area of burglary investigations. As a Master Police Officer in the Burglary Unit, he was involved in a record number of felony investigations.  Roger has written and executed approximately 500 search warrants and has interviewed approximately 2000 criminal suspects.

In 2003, while still working as a burglary detective, Roger developed an interview class which was later named, “The 30 Minute Interview”.  Roger has taught this 1-day class to nearly every uniform police officer in Arlington County.   Roger began teaching this class at the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy in 2006
