The Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy In-Service Training offers over 130 different programs with multiple presentation dates throughout the training year. Personnel from both participating and non-participating  agencies may attend.

All of our In-Service programs contribute to satisfying the mandated hours of In-Service training required for re-certification by the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) every two years. Four hours of legal instruction and four hours of cultural diversity are also included.

While most In-Service training is conducted at the Academy, a gradually increasing segment of training courses are being scheduled for agency-approved satellite training sites. Please click on the button above to view the satellite locations and courses.

For record-keeping information , contact the In-Service Administrative Assistant at x301. Please contact the coordinators listed on the In-Service Training Staff page for specific course information and registration.

The Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy, Fairfax County Criminal Justice Academy and Prince William County Criminal Justice Academy have entered into a reciprocal agreement whereby each academy and their personnel would be eligible to receive training at each other's training academies. The enabling Memorandum of Understanding lists various requirements to meet the In-Service training needs of each academy population.

The In-Service section is starting an e-mail notification list. The list will be used to alert members to new classes, changes to scheduled classes, getting input on proposed classes and other training related information.  Send an e-mail to inservice@nvcja.org to be added or have your name removed from the list.
