About the course

This course is a comprehensive training approach for criminal justice professionals to prepare for use of force encounters on the job. This begins with a foundation of a proper mindset, identifying what perception really is and how it influences our response to criminal and potentially violent behavior. We will examine and identify known behavioral indicators for violence or escape by using video of use of force encounters to create a solid visual outcome. Discussion is encouraged in order to display the benefits of situational planning and common de-escalation tactics prior to encountering potentially violent subjects. The instructor will provide techniques and information for a stable and controlled mindset along with positive mental imaging concepts to prevail in dynamic use of force encounters. A focus is also provided on the consequences of anger and loss of control both from the officer’s perspective and the subjects. To emphasize the lessons role playing exercises will also be conducted.
