This course will familiarize attendees with the history of the Middle East and the culture of regional peoples with special focus on Islam as a religion and as a way of life. Given that Islam is the fastest growing religion worldwide and is rapidly gaining adherents in the United States; knowledge will enable attendees to develop strategies to bridge the gap between misunderstanding and beneficial engagement with the Muslim community. The objective of this course is to make law enforcement or intelligence attendees more effective in whatever aspect of criminal justice they engage. The course will provide knowledge and skills in order that attendees can effectively handle victims, witnesses, suspects, source operations, prosecution, corrections, probation & parole, analysis, and community liaison with persons from the Middle East.
