Teaching Jail Staff Properly: Developing Good Trainers

Course length

About the course

Target Audience: Jail Trainers, Instructors, and Field Training Officers
The staff of a correctional facility is only as professional as how well they are trained. Training begins in the academy and continues throughout a corrections career, for both line staff, veterans, and supervisors. Training now is online as well as in the classroom. Good training instructors are necessary, to develop up to date curriculum and material. In addition, presenting training is a key factor. A trainer, in the field, online or in the classroom, must develop objectives, goals and apply them to the job. Moreover, presentation techniques are important. Training presentations must be fresh, innovative and be able to keep the attendees’ interest, from the recruit to the veteran. This seminar will explore ways that correctional staff can become good trainers and develop future generations of correctional officers.
