About the course
This class is being hosted by the Prince William Criminal Justice Academy at EVOC. The class is open to all NVCJA member agency personnel, but all class enrollments must be done through Prince William's Training Coordinator, Matt McCauley. His email address is mmccauley@pwcgov.org.
This course provides members with the knowledge and skills necessary for basic towing and trailering. This training provides general information and tips that can help when driving a tow vehicle and trailer as part of your official duties.
This course is designed to give the student some basic information about factors to consider and equipment you will need to ensure your safety and that of your passengers, as well as the safety of others while towing a trailer.
This training is NOT a substitute for the technical information found in the manufactures’ towing guides and vehicle owner’s manuals.
This course will include a practical exercise. Backing any trailer, (horse, boat, motorcycle, bomb trailer, etc.), requires practice and specific directions to successfully maneuver the trailer properly and without incident.
Students are required to bring a towing vehicle and a trailer to the EVOC facility. Towing vehicles should be a utility vehicle (not a cruiser) properly outfitted for trailering.
This course does not cover fifth wheel operations.
This class is also available on the following dates: May 23, June 20, August 16 with the class hours being 0800-1400. The class hours for the December 5 class are 0800-1400.
