About the course
The student will learn the importance of creating distance and seeking cover when confronted by a subject armed with an edged weapon or blunt force weapon. The student will also learn officer safety techniques that can be employed to possibly disarm a subject armed with an edged weapon or blunt force weapon.
The class includes practical hands-on exercises which help students to practice and refine the learned techniques. Students, therefore, need to bring their leather duty gear and personal protection (mouth piece & groin).
The following topics will be covered:
- The class includes a Control Tactics Refresher block
- The importance of creating distance when confronted by a subject armed with an edged weapon or blunt force weapon
- The importance of seeking “cover” when confronted by a subject armed with an edged weapon or blunt force weapon
- Officer safety techniques that can be employed to possibly disarm a subject that is armed with an edged weapon or blunt force weapon.

• Phase One Instructor, Edged Weapons Defensive Tactics, Thin Blue Line Consultants
• Law Enforcement Counters to Edged Weapons, Sayoc Tactical Group 15 years of Hand Combatives including but not limited to Stick, Knife and firearms
• 3 Black Belts in Karate (Kenpo, Kempo and Ryukyu Kempo/Arnis).
1stdegree Brown Belt in Modern Arnis (Philippine knife and stick fighting)
• Previously Certified DCJS General and Defensive Tactics Instructor Certified Federal Defensive Tactics Instructor, D.E.A.
• Instructed DT Re-Cert Sessions at the NVCJA
• Currently Lead Instructor and Owner of the Gainesville Modern Arnis Training Group.
